What a busy start to the year! Travelling back in time to the year 1666, we had great fun finding out all about the Great fire of London. A visit from 'Samuel Pepys' was a real highlight and really brought the topic to life. Some of our class had the opportunity to act out scenes and get dressed up. Tilly made a great Mrs Goosnargh even though her dress didn't fit very well. Poor Mrs Shaw got teased a lot yet again!
We have been very lucky to have visits from Mr Bousfield (a firefighter) and Mrs Rook (a police lady) as part of our 'People who help us' topic. Dressing up in Mr Bousfield's uniform was great fun! Mrs Rook told us all about being in the police force and when she shouted everybody in the room jumped in surprise!
In science, we have been investigating how materials change and how some of these changes can be reversible. No surprise, our favourite investigation so far has been melting the chocolate as we got to eat it in the end. Strangely nobody wanted to eat the microwaved egg.
In literacy, we have been enjoying the story of "The Owl who was afraid of the dark". We spent a most entertaining afternoon when Barn Owl Bill brought a selection of his owls into school. Gabrielle was as star when she had an owl on her shoulder!
