Miss Cox's Class Room 12 Autumn Term 2010

Welcome to Miss Cox's Year 2 Class. We have enjoyed a very interesting start to the new term. The topic in the first half of the term was 'The Great Fire of London'. This exciting historical topic was brought to life by a visit from Robert Vickers, an actor who gave an extremely entertaining portrayal of the life and times of Samuel Pepys.

We have had a variety of important visitors in school. Our parents came to see our 'Buddy Assembly', where we enjoyed sharing songs and a powerpoint presentation. Mrs. Rooke, a police officer came into school to enhance our topic; 'People Who Help Us'. Mr. Bousfield a firefighter gave an interesting talk about his important job.

During the past year everyone in school has been busy raising money for a new sports area which has been built on the site of the old canteen. This area was officially opened by Steven Gerrard, which was kept secret from the children until the actual day. Steven visited the Infant School Hall where he demonstrated the 'lollipop football skill' and answered questions. We were surprised to find out that jaffa cakes were eaten at half time! The Mayor opened the new canteen and she was particularly impressed with the Infant and Junior singing.
