We have been continuing with our topic of 'Rainforests'. Our trip to Chester Zoo was an opportunity to see first-hand all the animals we have been learning about in the classroom.
In Science we have enjoyed exploring our senses of smell, touch and taste by testing tropical fruits. We discovered that we sometimes like 'new tastes' if we just give them a try!!
During book week we read the story of 'The Enormous Crocodile and had fun designing and making our own crocodiles and Roly Poly birds.
Room 10 have been very busy since Christmas! We are really enjoying our new topic - The Rainforest and have found out lots about where it is, what the weather is like and what kinds of animals live there. During Science and Technology week we created our Rainforest environments using old shoe boxes. We learned how to cut, fold and join paper and card in special ways to create all sorts of animals and plant to go in our environments. We were even visited by a giant land snail that we thought may well have come from the Rainforest!
During Junior Chef week, we created our own Handa's Surprise (based on the story) using tropical fruits that you may find in the Rainforest.
