All aboard! Grab your passport and come with us 'Around the World'. We have a fun packed itinerary first stop Africa, then on to India, followed by China and finally the last leg to Australia. So far this year we have visited Africa and had a spectacular time joining in Steve Hill's African drumming circle. Our ears are just about returning to normal!
This first half term we have also had a lovely trainee teacher called Miss Smith who led the work on India. She also devised a fun filled science investigation linked to the topic 'Forces'. We flapped fans, pumped balloon pumps, wafted card, blew down straws to find out which would move a paper fish to a finish line first. Phew! We were exhausted at the end of it.
In India we were mesmerised by the amazing wildlife and beautiful architecture. Some of us dressed up in traditional Indian outfits and we were all inspired to move rhythmically to Indian music. We have enjoyed using computers to interacting with a world map on 'Become a World Explorer' program.
This term we have already had a number of special events. Our annual Arts Week was another huge success. All of us thoroughly enjoyed working with the professional artists in dance and drama. There is a colourful display in the Arts Studio, which our class contributed to for everyone to appreciate.
In February we had a day of change and raised money for UNICEF and the victims of the Haiti earthquake disaster. Children brought in donations of money, bedding and old clothes. Some children brought in cakes from home and baked cakes in school to sell after school to raise further funds.
