We welcome all our new children to Nursery. The children have settled in well, are enjoying lots of exciting activities, learning the routines and making new friends.
We began with a Nursery Rhyme topic, using finger puppets to sing familiar rhymes and learn some new words to old rhymes. The children loved watching real 'Incy Wincy' Spiders spinning their webs in the garden and followed it up with lovely paintings, threading webs and making play dough spiders....counting the pipe cleaner legs!
The children have been collecting leaves, seeds, pine cones and conkers in the garden and at home (thank you for bringing them in to share) and we have used these for our Autumn topic. Activities have included matching, counting, leaf printing and Andy Goldworthy inspired art. Bread making proved very popular with lots of children having a turn at kneading the dough and using skills to chop pumpkin for our soup.
After half term we will be looking at Autumn festivals and Autumn animals, using stories such as 'Hodge the Hedgehog' and 'Owl babies' as a starting point for lots of exciting activities.
We look forward to sharing some of this during our stay and play week, beginning 10th November.
