We have been having lots of fun in Reception, learning through our autumn topics 'Ourselves' and 'People Who Help Us'. We have developed skills in all areas of learning. We understand the importance of the prime areas and why we need to keep healthy and safe. We have had special visitors to school to talk to us about fire safety, road safety and personal safety. We know the 'Golden Rules' and why they help keep our school a happy place to work and play. We have been making lots of new friends. During 'Friendship Week' we devised recipes for good friendship and spent time with our buddy classes.
In Literacy activities we have been developing our phonic and key word recognition. We are enjoying our reading challenges and love to take the special class puppy home to read to! We have been learning to read and write key words and simple sentences in our pre cursive handwriting. The parents were very impressed at the range of activities we have during 'Stay and Share' week. It was great fun to show our mums and dads what we are learning and the fun way in which we do it. A big thank you to all our parents for their support with homework activities. Our news sharing is vital in helping us develop our sentence building skills and recounting events helps us think about what we will write about. We love to write in our Busy Bee books and we have impressed other teachers with the quality work we do.
We have been developing our maths skills with numbers, shape space and measures. We are working hard to recognise all the coins in our money activities and count out values and amounts. We love to learn with practical objects. We use numicon in all areas of our classroom.
We love to be creative and our new musical instrument station is proving very popular outside. Role play, making tables, painting, creating stories and music are all part of every day life in our Reception classes and outdoor learning environments. We also enjoy using the Ipads, cameras and computers to enhance our learning.
We have so much fun learning, celebrating and creating. Please look out for regular class up dates on our twitter pages.
