Art Leader- Mrs Bailey

At Farnborough Road Infant School we are all artists! We want all our children to love art. We want them to have no limits to what their ambitions are and grow up wanting to be; illustrators, graphic or fashion designers, sculptors, curators or printmakers!

Our vision is to foster a love of art at a young age, giving all our children the opportunity to develop their artistic skills through a creative curriculum. We want our children to be given the opportunity to be able to take inspiration from great artists and generate their own ideas with independence and curiosity.

Curriculum Intent

Our art curriculum promotes curiosity and empowers our children to become independent and resilient learners.

The FRIS art curriculum not only meets National Curriculum requirements but will provide memorable art lessons that will develop their art skills and prepare them for the next stage in their education.

Our children’s creativity is extended with opportunities to explore and share their thoughts and ideas through art, music, movement, dance, their imagination  and role play, both indoors and outside. We also provide a range of enrichment opportunities including art and craft clubs, visits to Atkinson Art Gallery Southport, and the national acclaimed Arts spaces such as the Tate, Liverpool and the Walker Art Gallery.  Our annual Art’s week; with its variety of visiting professionals, including visual artists, drama coaches and musicians are all part of the school’s commitment to creativity. We have links with local community to enable our children to showcase their work.

                                                  Curriculum Implementation

The Art curriculum has carefully planned  learning opportunities which ensure in each year group there is a progression of skills, understanding and knowledge.

Using different media such as paint, clay, printing, pencil and collage children develop their artistic techniques which often enhances other curriculum areas.  The work of famous artists are studied to illustrate the variety of skills and knowledge in order to inspire and encourage their creativity.

                                                              Curriculum Impact

We strive for every child to achieve their full potential in art, develop a love of art, be ready for their next stage in learning and inspire aspirations for the future career paths.

At Farnborough Road Infant School, we are fabulous artists!

“Art and design is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise: with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality.”

Quentin Blake, Children’s Laureate.
