Changes to Data Protection Legislation came into force on 25th May 2018.   The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is new European legislation. It has the same basic principles as  previous Data Protection law, but strengthened Accountability, New rights for individuals, and the strengthening of existing rights as well as new procedures on the reporting of data protection breaches, Data Protection Impact Assessments and higher penalties for non-compliance.
