🏅 Eco-Schools England Award

At Farnborough Road Infant School, we are going green! We want to help care for our amazing planet. As Greta Thunberg famously said - "Nobody is too small to make a difference".

In the Summer of 2022, we received our first Eco Schools England 'Green Flag' award! 💚

Our three chosen Eco Schools topics for 2022-23 are:

  • 🌊 Marine
  • 🌍 Global Citizenship
  • 🐝 Biodiversity

Watch this space for some exciting developments! Alternatively, why not follow our Eco Schools hashtag #FRISgreen on Twitter!

📸 Eco Week 2022

Monday 21st March 2022 signalled the start of our first ever Eco Week at Farnborough Road Infant School. It was a fun-filled week of activities and all children got involved!

Here are just some of our achievements:

  • We created a mini pond habitat
  • We visited a wormery
  • We planted a mini wildflower meadow
  • We made pine cone bird feeders
  • We saw birds of prey up close
  • We produced recycled windsocks
  • We made a hibernaculum
  • We designed mini sky gardens
  • We wrote a letter to our MP
  • We created a seascape diorama
  • We visited our school triangle garden
  • We learned about ocean plastics
  • We protested and went on strike for our planet!

🌍 Eco Council

Our Eco Councillors were selected after applying for the role by creating an application video. We meet throughout the year to discuss our Action Plans and ideas to make our school a greener, happier and more eco-friendly environment to learn. The Eco Board is updated regularly with our meeting minutes and plans. Why not take a look at it when you're walking around our school?
