Welcome to Farnborough Road Infant School!

On behalf of the pupils, staff and governors welcome to Farnborough Road Infant School’s website. We hope you find it informative and it gives you an insight into our school and the many opportunities our children enjoy.

I have been the Headteacher at Farnborough Road Infant School for the last 10 years and have taught for the last 30 years at the school, since becoming Newly Qualified Teacher in 1996. I know my school and the Farnborough community very well. As a school we talk about the ‘Farnborough Family’ and we know it feels like that for our children, parents and staff.

We are a four form entry infant school and nursery in the seaside town of Southport teaching children  between 2-7years old. We work closely with Farnborough Road Junior School (where our children automatically transition at 7 years old), First Steps Family Wellbeing Centre (which provides care and support for our surrounding community from birth into adulthood) and Fun4kidz, (which is a non-profit making wrap around care organisation, which invests their profits straight back into the Merseyside community). As a team of organisations, we are invested in supporting our Southport and Merseyside community.

As a teacher, I have a real passion for Early Years Education and the importance it plays in our children’s future, in their personal, social and emotional development, as well as their enjoyment and engagement in learning.

Over the last 5 years as a school we have been focusing on the development of Oracy education; becoming accredited as an Oracy Centre of Excellence in 2025. We have built a curriculum based on talk and the development of our children’s and their parent’s vocabulary, as well as our children's ability to speak confidently and listen respectfully. We know this is the key to their future success. 

We have also focused on the development of Outdoor Learning providing an environment where children can grow into confident and independent learners 

Our dedicated team of enthusiastic staff provide an exciting, creative and challenging curriculum. We work in partnership with parents and carers to achieve tailored learning to meet the individual needs of all children.   We are never complacent and continue to strive to improve learning opportunities further as well as promoting high standards of behaviour to ensure your child can achieve their full potential.

I am extremely proud of Farnborough Road Infant School and the outstanding personal, development and welfare that we provide for the children in our care.
