This morning a group of Year 2 children went down to the beach to see the the original 'Sunbeam' Tiger that broke the land speed record on Southport sands in 1926. 

Thank you to Nick Sherran ( Birkdale School Headteacher) and Southport Learning Partnership for organising the activities and Birkdale High School for hosting the event for all Southport schools. 

A group of Year 2 budding scientists , Miss Cox, Mrs Price and Mrs Simpson had lots of fun learning about the new land speed record attempt and the Bloodhound car. 

Infant children worked with children in the Junior school to build their own rocket powered racing car the winning team will get their names on the fin of the Bloodhound. How exciting!
