Olympic Gymnast visits school!
On Monday 5th November we were very lucky to have a visit from Olympic Bronze Medal Gymnast Daniel Purvis!
All the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children had the opportunity to ask him questions and hold his Olympic Medal when he visited their classrooms.
Here are some of the questions the children asked with Daniel's answers:
How old were you when you started gymnastics? - Age 7.
How old were you when someone noticed how good you were? - Between 14 and 16years old
Where do you train? - At Ainsdale YMCA and Lilleshall National Training Centre
How much training do you have to do? - 6 hours a day for 6 days a week.
What do gymnasts have to eat? - Lots of fruit and vegetables and meat.
Which is your favourite gymnastic activity? - The floor work.
Which is the hardest gymnastic activity? - The rings, because you need a lot of strength
How did you feel when you won your medal? - Very proud.
Which part of the Olympic Park did you like best? - The Food Hall!!
Have you seen the Queen? - Yes I went to Buckingham Palace.
What was it like on the open top bus celebration tour in London? - Brilliant.
Are you going to go to the next Olympics in Rio? - Hopefully, but I'll have to train hard and keep an eye on the young gymnasts coming up.
Do you wish you were on Strictly Come Dancing like Louis Smith? - No! I can't dance.
